This massage can be utilised by any type of athlete, professional or not .It is used to maintain and optimise athlete performance and improve recovery time, prevent injury and aid in the rehabilitation process. Sports massage can also be utilized just prior to an event and immediately after. Pre activity treatment Depending on the time frame before the activity, styles may change up to a week before hand. On the day of the event the massage pressure is reduces and more of a vigorous stimulteing style is used to slightly lengthen but mostly energise the muscles and activate the nervous system. Post activity treatment on the day of the event is designed to flush the body of toxins and metabolic waste, and restore fresh blood to the muscles. The treatment is also designed to reduce any nots or scar tissue formation from the impacting event.
